Other People’s Great Products
Speare – Writing Tool – Speare is a new way to write. Imagine being able to create and arrange little snips of text into your next big post (or even a book, like I’m doing). It allows me to arrange and shuffle ideas with ease, and I’ve come to really count on Speare to give me a new writing software that helps me express myself by better approximating how I think.
StudioPress Sites – Web Hosting – StudioPress is much better WordPress hosting, including improved SEO, vastly better security tools, and a lot of other help to simplify and improve my website management experience. I don’t want to spend all my time fussing with things, so I just use StudioPress Sites. I love the team and have worked with them in some capacity for the last several years.
Thinkific – Online Course Software – Thinkific is a great piece of online course software that lets you create really robust online education experiences simply and distribute and sell your smarts. The company behind the product is great and I’ve enjoyed Greg and team’s hard work for years.
OptinMonster – Website Tool – OptinMonster is one of the best and most robust website popup tools that I’ve ever used. Sayed Balkhi and team who make it are good people and they’ve put a lot into making this product work simply but with all the various use cases and variations that people have thrown their way.
If you’re going to make online video, here are some tools I can recommend:
Camera – I use the Canon G7X Mark II as my primary camera. It’s point-and-shoot and fits easily in a pocket which is why I prefer it to a bigger more fancy camera (for now). It’s MUCH more likely I’ll take it with me everywhere.
Microphone – NOT for the Canon Camera but when I record off my computer, I use the Blue Yeti microphone. Pick up the recommended pop filter, too.
Webcam – If you need a decent web camera, I picked up this one which is kind of a knock-off of Logitech’s one. The colors are really crisp and nice, and I can’t believe the quality for the price.
I love podcasting. You can get started so simply.
Microphone – I use the Blue Yeti (buy a pop filter, too). Super easy. USB. Very nice.
Hosting – I host my podcast on Libsyn. They’ve been podcast hosts for years and years and I trust the people there immensely.
Royalty-Free Music – For really great royalty free music, I highly recommend Epidemic Sound. I love the selection there.
